Description

A very rare and unusual William Duesbury porcelain works of Derby England Chocolate cup, the bell shaped cup with a scalloped top rim and a most distinctive flat ear shaped pierced handle, with three small red flowers and leaves either side.

It is decorated in bright red, green and blue enamel colours with a red decorative crisscross border to the interior rim of the cup, also two different designs of painting within the six shield shaped compartments with a red lined border following the scalloped shaped top rim .

One panel with large leaves and red and blue flowers at the top then the next one smaller leaves with again red and blue flowers, apart from the panel to left hand side of the handle which has  yellow and red flowers and then below six more shield shaped panels with the  larger leaf pattern repeated around the base. There is a single red flower and leaf on the inside of the base.

Circa; 1758-60.

Condition; A chip and two  hair line cracks restored, some staining around the base.
