Description

A well coloured Staffordshire  Dudson figure .

Audrey Dudson named this group  “Blue Parsley” figures, this refers to the shredded clay which has been coloured blue and then applied to the extremities of this piece and also can be seen on many other animals and groups from this factory.

The figure was probably copied from the Lithograph of the ‘Polka ‘ which portrays Catarina and Diavolino, from the Grand Ballet by M Perro, Catarina, ou la Fille Du Bandit, which was first performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 3rd March 1846. Catarina, who was the leader of a band of robbers was loved by both her Lieutenant Diavolino and the band’s captive slave, artist Salvator Rosa,

Condition; good, just fine hire line crack to the under side of the base no restoration .
