A Staffordshire Obadiah  Sherratt pottery figure of Madam Vestris as the ‘Broom Girl’ .

Madam Eliza Vestris (1797-1856) was a famous actress and opera singer.  This figure portrays her dressed in a Dutch costume in her  role as the Broom Girl and had a great hit with the song ‘Buy a broom which she  sang on stage in London 1826. She is standing on a green plinth with typical Sherratt colours of yellow and double painted red line around the base .

Circa: 1830.

Size:  height 15cm, “6 inches”

Condition: Very good professional restoration through the legs and pedestal,  neck, and tip of the two broom handles
